Tea Garden

Zhao Yang Po Tea Garden is located at an elevation of 800-1100 meters in Enshi, Hubei. The climate is moderate, the sunshine is plenty, the rainfall is plentiful, the soil is fertile, and the clouds and mists are veiled, creating unique natural circumstances for tea cultivation. Enshi is known as the “selenium capital of China” and is the world’s sole independent selenium deposit. The soil contains natural selenium components, and the tea trees growing here also contain this trace element.

Origin

Enshi is located in the southwestern part of Hubei Province, in the Wuling Mountains’ hinterland, and has fertile soil, rich vegetation, four distinct seasons, no severe cold in winter and no severe heat in summer, an annual average temperature of 16.4°C, a frost-free period of 282 days, and an annual rainfall of about 1525 mm. It is a place of famous and high-quality tea, with a humidity of 82% and covered in clouds and mist all year, and has been selected as an advantageous tea location by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Hubei Provincial Government.

Tea Bush

Longjing #43, comes from Qunti variety through the systematic selection breeding by Tea Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. In 1987, it was identified as National Improved Variety by Chinese Tea Improved Variety Examination and Approval Committee, numbered “GSCT 37”. It is flat and smooth with light green color. At the same time, it retains the Longjing’s good quality, sufficient bean flavor with some chestnut aroma. In addition, the spring tea of this tea bush has 3.7% amino acids and 18.5% tea polyphenols, which is very suitable for making flat-shape green tea.

History

According to legend, during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, there was a tea merchant in Enshi. He built his own tea stove and made tea himself. Because the shape of the tea leaves he made is round and straight, and the color is as green as jade, it is named “Yu Lv (Green Jade)”.

In 1936, Mr Yang, the tea manager of the Minsheng Company of Hubei Province, changed the pan-fried Sha Qing to steamed Sha Qingbased on this tea. The finished tea not only has the green tea liquid, but also emerald green in appearance, so it was renamed “En Shi Yu Lu (jade dew)”

In 1945, En Shi Yu Lu was exported to Japan, and since then it has become famous all over the world.
